The ERP Minute Episode 57: September 27, 2022

This week at Dreamforce, Salesforce’s user conference, Salesforce introduced Genie, a hyper-scale real-time data platform that powers the entire Salesforce Customer 360. Genie unifies all of a company’s customer data across channels and interactions into a single, real-time customer profile, so every experience across the Customer 360 is more automated, intelligent, and real-time. Microsoft made a few announcements this week, beginning with its board of directors declaring a quarterly dividend of $0.68 per share, reflecting a 10% increase over the previous quarter’s dividend. Microsoft then released a Work Trend Index Pulse report, “Hybrid Work is Just Work. Are We Doing in Wrong?” coinciding with the announcement of new capabilities in Microsoft Viva, its employee experience platform, designed to help empower and energize employees in a time of economic uncertainty. Microsoft Viva expanded its offerings to include confidential feedback capabilities, the centralization of communications, the utilization of AI to assist users, richer integration with Microsoft Teams, and more. The final announcement from Microsoft this week was the planned launch of Global Renewables Watch (GRW) in partnership with Planet Labs PBC and The Nature Conservancy. GRW will be a first-of-its-kind living atlas intended to map and measure all utility-scale solar and wind installations on Earth using AI and satellite imagery, allowing users to evaluate clean energy transition progress and track trends over time. A recent Gartner survey found that security and risk management, application and integration strategies, and infrastructure and operations are the top three technology priorities for midsize enterprises (MSEs) in 2022. As we prepare for Cybersecurity Awareness month and see an ever-increasing number of cybersecurity risks in the ERP space, EAG will be discussing the frightening topic of Ransomware, with special guest James McQuiggan of KnowBe4.

Hi and welcome to episode 57 of The ERP Minute. I am your host, Rebekah McCabe.

As the market continues to trend toward investing in user experience, it is no surprise that Salesforce is extending its UX capabilities by leveraging its Force.com and related toolsets. Such innovations will continue to advance Salesforce as the biggest Enterprise Software vendor in the world.

Microsoft appears to constantly be seeking partnerships aimed at advancing its enterprise across a multitude of industries, while also working towards the enhancement of its solutions to bring value to customers and the overall planet.

Finally, a recent Gartner survey found that security and risk management, application   and integration strategies, and infrastructure and operations are the top three technology priorities for midsize enterprises (MSEs) in 2022. As we prepare for Cybersecurity Awareness month and see an ever-increasing number of cybersecurity risks in the ERP space, EAG will be discussing the frightening topic of Ransomware, with special guest James McQuiggan of KnowBe4.
