Hi and welcome to episode 104 of The ERP Minute. I am your host, Rebekah McCabe.

SAP kicked off the week by announcing it has entered into an agreement to acquire LeanIX, an Enterprise Architecture Management software provider. This planned acquisition helps SAP expand its business transformation portfolio, giving customers access to the full suite of tools required for continuous business transformation and facilitating AI-enabled process optimization. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2023. This acquisition further supports SAP’s push to assist customers in their movement to the cloud, especially alongside the RISE with SAP solution, easing their digital transformation efforts.

Data solutions took center stage at Salesforce, with two major announcements regarding data usage and access being released this week. First, Salesforce announced the general availability of Bring Your Own Lake (BYOL) Data Sharing with the Snowflake Data Cloud from Salesforce Data Cloud. This builds on Salesforce and Snowflake’s existing partnership to bring together data storage and actionable insights for their customers. Then, Salesforce and Databricks announced an expanded strategic partnership that delivers zero-ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) data sharing in Salesforce Data Cloud. Customers can now seamlessly merge data from Salesforce Data Cloud with external data from the Databricks Lakehouse Platform. With these new capabilities, businesses can reduce the cost and complexity of moving and copying data while maintaining security, governance, and trust. These major enhancements from Salesforce enable customers to access all their data sources and apply the data to actionable insights by minimizing complicated processes. In a data-driven world, these resources are more important than ever to businesses.

Finally, IFS and Aptean made major leadership team changes, reflecting the ERP market's push for growth and continued innovation.

IFS first announced the appointment of Andre Robberts as the new regional President for Southern and Western Europe and LATAM. Robberts will be taking over from the current president, Marc Genevois, who will move to a new role as Global President of Strategic Initiatives.

Then, Aptean announced the appointment of Miguel Gernaey as the company’s new Chief Marketing Officer. Gernaey brings decades of expertise in B2B enterprise software marketing to guide strategic growth for the company.

Both of these appointments will enable the companies to grow through a fresh set of eyes.
