We were working on an older system where the bells and whistles weren't fully deployed or used, and the system itself in its current iteration didn’t support what we needed as an organization. Our platform was hosted on a remote desktop, where we kept having to request more memory and frequently encountered delays in uploading files with issues related to storage and usage. We, unfortunately, could not continue to operate that way. We are hopeful the implementation of the new ERP system will rectify a lot of issues our team faced.
A big goal of this project was to select a true cloud-based platform. We also really wanted an ERP that connected well with other platforms. With our current solution, connecting with other third-party solutions, specifically our purchasing platform, our payroll platform, our donor, donation, and pledge platforms, the connection was nothing more than spreadsheets or stuff we would have to force into the system manually. But the platform we selected supports a lot of direct connection with our third parties and should be able to handle the bandwidth we anticipate going forward.
The software selection project overall was fantastic. From what we were hoping for, I think we got more than we expected. We identified what we wanted, and I think using this process confirmed everything, but for ERP Advisors Group (EAG) to bring attention to other platforms and other areas in the industry that we otherwise would not have considered was very eye-opening. They made sure we were doing our due diligence, and it confirmed a lot for us.
To have assistance with coordinating the vendor selection, meeting with the vendors, scheduling, and things like that was big for us. For myself, because I'm the Managing Director of the department, we were able to more or less continue to do our daily work with minimal interruption. Fundamentally, could we have done that? Yes, but I think that would have been a big ask of myself and other members of the team. And for them to do that in addition to their normal responsibilities would have been an unfair ask. So, the fact we were able to bring on EAG, gain a clear picture of what we were doing, and receive the appropriate guidance was very helpful.
When we conducted our own independent research, we went as far as to get a quote. And for what EAG provided, they far surpassed what we anticipated. The overall structure of working with EAG was perfect for what we needed to accomplish. There was the right amount of interaction, the right amount of intervention, like pulling us to the side and making us very aware of what we were getting ourselves into. The best part was the level of care and real consideration for what we were looking for and what we wanted to bring on.

ERP Advisors Group was founded by Shawn Windle in 2010. He helped develop the technology practice at the largest accounting firm in Denver from 2004 - 2010 by offering Needs Analysis and Selection projects. But Shawn saw that clients were struggling during their implementations, even though they selected the right software. The firm’s partners were too averse to the risk of losing tax and audit business from a risky implementation. Thus, ERP Advisors Group was born with the purpose to provide Client-Side Implementation Services.
We take responsibility for the decisions we help our clients make during the Selection phase by staying on for their implementation, ensuring they go live with their new software.
