For decades, BisTrack has supported the lumber and building material (LBM) industry as a go to ERP solution, helping organizations manage everything from point-of-sale transactions and inventory to delivery logistics and purchasing. However, Epicor is officially phasing out its on-premises BisTrack products, alongside Kinetic and Prophet21, which means big changes for current on-prem and web-based BisTrack customers. BisTrack’s original focus under its developer Progressive Software was on specialized management systems for timber and building merchants. Lumberyards, hardware stores, and construction supply companies turned to BisTrack to solve their unique business needs and meet their operational focus.
In the early 2000s, BisTrack was acquired by Solarsoft Business Systems, who invested significantly in the platform by developing additional manufacturing and millwork capabilities while expanding its presence throughout North America and the United Kingdom.
In 2011, Apax Partners merged Epicor and Activant Solutions to create the Epicor Software Solutions company we see today. Subsequently, Epicor acquired Solarsoft. Since then, Epicor has continued investing in the platform, introducing enhancements such as:

Back in January 2026, Epicor announced a number of on-premises end of support deadlines, including a tentative schedule for BisTrack products. Aligned with Epicor’s commitment to customers, Epicor will make the adjustments overtime, in phases to help ease the transition. At each deadline, the product version will be moved to Sustaining Support, meaning customers will have access to support, but will no longer receive hotfixes, regulatory updates, and new feature functionality.

While the announcement came with plenty of warning for existing BisTrack customers, it is crucial to begin planning early in order to avoid issues associated with “inactive” support. Fortunately, there are multiple paths forward.
For some, following Epicor’s outlined roadmap onto BisTrack in the cloud might be the right choice. If BisTrack is meeting all of your current business needs with little fiction, moving to the cloud will provide similar results. However, it is important to keep in mind that a move from on-prem to the cloud is not as simple as a “lift and shift.” Often, it is a full implementation of a new solution. If you must undergo that pain, it might be worth shopping around before committing.
Others will leverage this announcement as an opportunity to evaluate the long-term viability of BisTrack. When you first implemented the system years, sometimes decades, ago, your business landscape was likely much different than it is now. You now have the perfect opportunity to reassess your business needs and pain points to identify the right fit for now and many years to come.
