Hi and welcome to episode 218 of The ERP Minute. I’m your host, Charlie DeCurtis

To begin the week, IFS announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Softeon, a leading provider of cloud-native Warehouse Management, Warehouse Execution and Distributed Order Management solutions. This strategic move extends IFS's Industrial AI capabilities into the warehouse management systems market, creating an integrated platform that connects manufacturing operations seamlessly with intelligent warehouse execution. The combined solution will leverage IFS's partnerships with leading robotics companies including Boston Dynamics and 1X Technologies to create fully autonomous warehouse environments. IFS continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with agentic artificial intelligence, and businesses using their solutions will benefit from this acquisition.

Next, Salesforce opened a new office in Stockholm, continuing its investment across Northern Europe amid the region’s accelerating AI adoption. The new space is a reflection of the company’s approach to real estate, which is focused on more flexible, efficient, and multifunctional workplaces — suitable for today’s hybrid work culture. Salesforce has been committed to expanding AI capabilities for businesses across the world, and they continue to do so by increasing operations in Northern Europe.

In further AI news, Oracle and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced a joint effort to further advance the DOE’s current and future AI and advanced computing initiatives. As part of a non-binding agreement, Oracle and the DOE will work together to foster technological innovation, accelerate the deployment of next-generation AI capabilities, and help strengthen domestic capacity in key areas such as compute infrastructure, data architecture, and responsible AI development. Partnerships focused on advancing artificial intelligence, such as this one, are what is needed for vendors to further increase AI offerings to their clients.

Finally, Oracle also announced enhancements to how hospitality brands engage with guests and manage their operations, with new Oracle Payments features such as in-terminal charitable donations, expanded device offerings, and new location and regional coverage. These updates deliver secure, compliant experiences that make it easy for guests to pay with their preferred method and brands to operate with a trusted, no-fee-surprises payment platform whether they are serving fans at a stadium, diners in a restaurant, or making it easier for guests to check-in and pay for their hotel stay. Vendors like Oracle have continued to support their industry-specific offerings and have followed the trend of doing so throughout all of 2025. We expect this to continue into the New Year with examples like this one.
